Gin produced in Barra Mansa awarded at the World Gin Awards 2021

An old coffee plantation in the district of Floriano, in Barra Mansa, Southern Rio. This is where Amázzoni Gin is produced, awarded at the 2021 World Gin Awards in England in the category of “Best Brazilian Old Tom Gin.”

The award projects the Barra Mansa drink to the world, as the World Gin Awards are considered the “Oscars of Gins,” meaning the industry’s premier award. It recognizes and promotes the best drinks globally for consumers and traders.

But this wasn’t the first time that Amázzoni Gin gained prominence at the awards. The drink, produced at Fazenda Rochinha, had already won trophies in 2018 when it was elected the Best Brazilian London Dry and in 2019 when it took silver as a Contemporary Style Gin.

Amázzoni comes from the distillery of the same name, which works with three product varieties. They feature ingredients such as aromatic herbs, spices, coriander, and Sicilian lemon peel, varying in alcohol content between 38% and 51%.
